It appears that a settlement between the children of deceased auto designer Carroll Shelby and his wife will finally allow his body to be laid to rest after burial rights had been in dispute for the last two months.
The dispute arose over a directive signed by Shelby that instructed his remains to be cremated and split among the children and a burial plot. However, his wife claimed the directive to be forged and that previous documents signed by Shelby two years prior gave her power of attorney to make any decisions regarding his remains. His siblings maintain that Shelby's directive over his remains was signed in front of several witnesses.
The settlement is reported to allow Shelby's body to go forward with the cremation, but the ashes would be split among the children, the plot, and the wife.
