Mary Kennedy's son, Conor Kennedy, has made an official request in a White Plains, NY court to be named the administrator of his late mother's estate. Conor Kennedy just turned 18 years old earlier in the week which legally qualifies him to administer the estate.
Mary Kennedy's divorce lawyers had earlier rejected the idea that her estranged husband Robert Kennedy be named to administer the estate. They initially applied to have a public administrator appointed, but have since dropped that application. They do not object to Conor's request and neither do lawyers for Robert Kennedy. Mary's sister, Martha Richardson, was present in court, but she had not decided whether or not to object. The judge has said he expects to grant the request for Conor to be the administrator.
Mary Kennedy, 52, hanged herself near her home in Westchester County in May of this year. She leaves behind 4 children ranging in age from 11 to 18.
