With June being Elder Abuse Awareness month, let's take a few minutes to recognize that elder abuse continues to remain a serious problem in this and other countries.
Unfortunately, we see time and time again that anyone from caretakers to judges have been accused and convicted of elder abuse. Nothing could be more painful that to have to endure abuse at the hands of the people that are tasked with protecting you and your finances when you are at your most vulnerable.
This is still a persistent problem that affects all walks of life including the poor, middle class, and super millionaires. Seniors are at risk not matter where you go and even more so once it is discovered that they may possess a substantial amount of estate assets.
Please keep your eyes and ears out if there is anyone around you that could be in danger of elder abuse. Make sure you vet all caregivers thoroughly. And then keep up with their care to make sure their needs are being taken care of.
As always, if you suspect elder abuse please report it to the proper local authorities or contact an Attorney for Elder Abuse before the situation gets out of control.
